Published English translation

2. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman from ibn abu Ya‘fur who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who experiences sexual relation and has enough water only for his drinking needs; must he take Tayammum or Wudu’? He (the Imam) said, ‘Tayammum is better. You should understand the fact that the task of cleansing is made only half as much in his favor.’”

verification Note
Publisher content rights, translator attribution and structural checks, with independent publisher-page spot checks—not scholarly authentication or printed-edition collation. Historical text and scholarly reference strings may contain source errors; they are not silently corrected. No full commentary prose or inferred narrator identity is added. Muʿjam coverage, where present, is only the supplied excerpt, not the complete work.
