9ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَبْدِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ قَالَ كَانَ خَطَّابٌ الْجُهَنِيُّ خَلِيطاً لَنَا وَكَانَ شَدِيدَ النَّصْبِ لآِلِ مُحَمَّدٍ (عَلَيْهِم الْسَّلام) وَكَانَ يَصْحَبُ نَجْدَةَ الْحَرُورِيَّةَ قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ أَعُودُهُ لِلْخُلْطَةِ وَالتَّقِيَّةِ فَإِذَا هُوَ مُغْمًى عَلَيْهِ فِي حَدِّ الْمَوْتِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مَا لِي وَلَكَ يَا عَلِيُّ فَأَخْبَرْتُ بِذَلِكَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) رَآهُ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ رَآهُ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ.

Published English translation

9. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn Mahbub from ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-‘Abdiy from ibn abu Ya‘fur who has said the following: “Khattab al-Juhniy was one of our associates and he was a hardheaded adversary of the family of Muhammad, ‘Alayhim al-Salam. He was a companion of Najdah al-Harawriyyah. I once went to visit him to maintain social relations and due to fear. I found him fainted in dying condition and heard him say, ‘What did I have to do against you, O Ali?’ I informed abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about it and he said, ‘By the Lord of al-Ka‘bah, he saw him! By the Lord of al-Ka‘bah, he saw him.’”
